Our Work

Ecosphere has managed millions of dollars in grants for habitat restoration projects.  As one of only three Florida recipients of an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant, Ecosphere contributed to Hillsborough County's economic recovery following the Great Recession by spearheading an environmental restoration on Tampa Bay's South Shore that employed 10 local businesses and created 70 acres of tidal wetlands for fisheries habitat and public recreation.

Our pioneering work in designing and installing Living Shorelines is transforming gray seawalls of little ecological value into resilient green ribbons that support marine life while protecting upland properties from battering by storms and erosion from rising seas.

We support regional ecosystem goals for Tampa Bay through work that targets priority habitats for restoration, including freshwater wetlands, coastal uplands, and rare salterns, or high salt marshes.

In a little more than a decade, we have completed 19 habitat restoration, stormwater treatment and Living Shoreline initiatives.
